Sónia Isabel Remondes Costa has a degree in Clinical and Counselling Psychology (2001, Lusófona University of Lisbon) and a PhD in Clinical and Health Psychology (2012, University of Salamanca). Postgraduate in Advanced Studies in Health Psychology (2010, University of Salamanca), Psycho-Oncology (2014, Portuguese Academy of Psycho-Oncology) and Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis (2016, University of Lisbon). Since September 2003, she has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology Education (DEP) at the School of Human and Social Sciences (ECHS) of the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD). she currently teaches History of Psychology, Assessment and Intervention in Health Psychology, Clinical and Health Psychology, Health Psychology, and Oncological Psychology in Psychology (1st and 2nd cycle) and also supervises internships and theses in the Master’s Degree in Psychology, specializing in Clinical and Health Psychology and Educational and Developmental Psychology. She is the author of the book Breast Cancer: pains of Female Suffering from the Experience of the Disease (2015, PsicoSoma); co-author the book My mother is in the sun: play therapy intervention in childhood grief (2023, PsicoSoma), author and co-author of book chapters in the field of psycho-oncology; author and co-author of national and international scientific articles and present at National and International Congresses in the field of her lines of research. Her research interests include Health Psychology and Oncological Psychology, specifically Health Promotion (in health and illness); Mind-Body Therapies, such as relaxation, yoga, meditation, and hypnosis, and the development and evaluation of the effectiveness of intervention programs; and Palliative Care, specifically Psycho-Existential Models of Intervention in Palliative Care and Bereavement.
